Antonio - Legend
He sometimes comes in for some stick from the retards on here but I think his contribution over the years is worthy of legend status - maybe not a Dicks or Di Canio but surely ahead of Carlton Cole. Consider how many managers he's played under, how many different styles of play and how many positions he's had to play in. Notwithstanding this he still gives everything in a game and opposing defences a torrid time. A couple of years ago he was prone to repetitive hamstring injuries and he took advice from nutritionalists, changed his diet and sort of solved the problem. He can still turn on the after burners when needed, can work in the tightest of spaces and has a decent goal scoring record. I hope he gets the recognition he deserves when he finally hangs up his boots.

Re: Antonio - Legend
Time to move him on at the end of the season.

Re: Antonio - Legend
Thing with Antonio is that when he does play well he makes the team tick, which is why it's so confusing that Moyes goes out and buys other strikers who may be good players but aren't the battering rams like Antonio has been. Scamacca and Ings are totally different.

Re: Antonio - Legend
Not a legend.

Solid contribution but for someone who was once know for being a hard worker, his pressing from the front these days is pretty non-existant.

Strolls around the front line waiting for something to happen, gives the ball away often... if he's got a 1-on-1 with the keeper then you expect him to fuck it up.

A hanful on his day but those days are very rare at the moment.

Good to see him getting on the score sheet recently and helping us to safety but the fact that he is our best striker says allot about our team or the way we play.

Re: Antonio - Legend
Carlton Cole was always poor. At some point Zola said he was going to give him some one-on-one training and for the next 6 months he was a very good player. It didn't last long though.

Re: Antonio - Legend
don't get me wrong, I really rated quinn & morley so it's not an insult when I bring them up. anyone to have played in moyes system for this many games deserves a medal, because he is like kryptonite to strikers. micky has performed a thankless task, running his bollocks off, usually with very little service and only bowen for company.

Re: Antonio - Legend
I think he was really disappointed he missed out on getting into the England squad for the Euro finals and I personally think him coming on would have won the game against the Italians. Its taken a long while to get his head back.

Cole 182 (111) Apps - 68 Goals - 4 Seasons double figures league and cup goals

Antonio 219 (48) apps - 72 Goals - 4 Seasons double figures league and cup goals

Not much between them at all... both more than decent at stages in their careers... and at other times proper poop

I can’t even remember cole having a good game, Micky has almost single Handel destroyed teams when he’s on form. Ridiculous to compare the two

Re: Antonio - Legend
Antonio has been great for us over the years and will consider his time here as the best in his career.

1 goal in 4 is a good return. Of course there has been lean spells, but that is the same for a lot of forwards.

Glad to have seen and took my 2 sons when he got his first goal for us, even if he never meant it.

Re: Antonio - Legend
Think there are levels or tiers, be interesting how people rank players.

For me and I not going into depth so dont slate me.

Top - Rice,Noble
Second - Di Canio,Antonio,Cole,Dicks
Third- Collins, Reid,Fornals,Cresswell,Tevez

Special mention - Diamanti, just loved him and we didnt get enough of him

Re: Antonio - Legend
For me the only two LEGENDS over past 10 years have been Nobes and Rice... can't think of anyone else I'd get the baby lotion out for... but for me he's on par with Carlton Cole... probably very similar records... both had good spells (Carlton played for England in one of them) both been proper shite... both not legends but players you would look back very fondly. Anyway that's my take...

Re: Antonio - Legend
Has benefited from a crap manager who played a system where top class strikers like Haller and Scamacca can’t function .

Re: Antonio - Legend
We depend on him massively and have done for years now. If he’s on form, even if he’s not putting the chances way, he opens things up for the rest of the side - if he’s in can’t hit a barn door phase then the whole side plays poorly.
